March 2010 President's Message

Casey Roberts, 2009-10 OKC Chapter President

Greetings! Well March is already upon us, and it’s hard to believe spring is right around the corner. Many of our chapter members did not have the chance to attend our February meeting this year due to a snowstorm that passed thru the state. If you made it to the meeting you watched an arc flash presentation from Roger Zieg of Lewellyn Technologies that was very informing and well appreciated. Thanks to Lewellyn Technologies and Brett Wheelock for organizing this meeting.

Also since it is the beginning of March that means the ASP Review Class has come and gone. We had 37 attendees for this class and thanks to all who registered. I want to personally wish the 37 good luck with their ASP tests and onto their CSP tests. This class would not have been possible without the hard work of Mike Messner.

As a chapter I think it is great that we can organize instructional and professional development classes for our members. We don’t mind doing it and if you have a class that you would like to see the chapter organize, notify an executive committee member so we can get started on it. We can at least point you in the right direction if we cannot organize something.

For our monthly meeting we will be touring the Johnson Controls building on March 8th. Johnson Controls is located at 5005 York Dr. in Norman, OK. Lunch will be on your own, and if you would like to participate, send me an email at robertcc@oge.com to reserve you a spot.

April is a big month for the Oklahoma City Chapter. We are gearing up for another great Expo, and golf tournament on April 1 and 2. Our Keynote Speaker will be James “Skipper” Kendrick presenting “Make it Personal”. Along with a great keynote, we have terrific

breakout sessions scheduled as well. For more information on the Expo and golf tournament, or on how you can register, go to http://okc.asse.org. If you have any questions in regards to the PDC, or would like to be a sponsor please contact Casey Roberts at robertcc@oge.com.

If you have any questions in regards to the golf tournament or would like to be a sponsor contact Sean Hickey at sean.hickey@boral.com.

The Oklahoma City Chapter Executive Committee works on a volunteer basis, and it is the Executive Committee that leads your chapter If you are interested in being a member of next year’s Executive Committee contact me for further information.

Be safe and have a great March!

$500 Attendance Incentive

Okay, its time for the chapter to put its money where its mouth is. Monday June 11th we will be giving the attendance incentive prize away. To jog your memory, the chapter is giving a $500 gift card to one lucky member that has attended a minimum of five of the year’s first nine meetings and is present at Monday’s meeting. We are really excited about the drawing and hope to see everyone there. Someone has to win it, might just be you.
